6.0 Rarities cabinets

More than hundred paintings have been created after visiting Prague in the Check republic. Especially the monastery of Stranov was a source of inspiration.

These paintings explain the studies, the research of the painter/scientist.
They show a pandemonium of all kinds of animals. Birds, insects, roaches, ants, bigger animals like yaks, buffalos and cows, the Pliocene-horses. The behaviour of bees is studied upon!

What mainly fascinates the artist is the instinctive element that leaves behind important traces in the scientific research at the monastery of Stranov. This will lead to a new scientific approach, namely the influence of the observer on the observed.

Such research (mainly by the artist itself) has for instance lead to the discovery of an unknown, new kind of insect, namely the isotomurus, a colourless insect that feeds on acryl and oil-paint, and in doing so it takes up colour-pigments, and it has preference for primary colours!

Meer dan honderd schilderijen gemaakt na een bezoek aan Praag in Tsjechië. Vooral het Stranov klooster was een bron van inspiratie.

De schilderijen vertalen de studies en het onderzoek van een schilder/wetenschapper. Ze tonen het pademonium van verschillende dieren. Vogels, insecten, kevers, mieren, en grotere zoogdieren als de yak, buffel en koe, en het plioceen-paard. Het gedrag van de bij wordt gevolgd!

Wat de kunstenaar wereklijk fascineert is het instinctieve element dat belangwekkende details achterlaat in het wetenschappelijk onderzoek in het Stranov klooster. Dit zal leiden tot een nieuwe wetenschappelijke aanpak, namelijk de invloed van de kijker en de bekekene.

Dit inderzoek (dat hoofdzakelijk door de kunstenaar zelf is gedaan) zal bijvoorbeeld leiden tot de ontdekking - van een tot dan toe onbekend insect namelijk - de Isotomurus, een kleurloos insect dat zich voedt met acryl - en olieverven, en op deze manier het pigment van die kleur opneemt. Met een voorkeur voor primaire kleuren!
